Informations et itinéraire

Cette visite à pied met en lumière quelques-uns des monuments architecturaux modernes et contemporains les plus remarquables de Calgary, tous situés à proximité les uns des autres dans le centre-ville et le quartier East Village.


La façade principale de la bibliothèque centrale de Calgary se distingue par son architecture elliptique remarquable, composée de panneaux de verre et d'aluminium composite imbriqués en forme d'hexagones. À l'intérieur, un atrium vertigineux, revêtu de pruche et doté d'une grande verrière, crée un espace aéré et lumineux.


À quelques pas de là se trouve le Studio Bell, siège du Centre national de musique, dont l'architecture unique se caractérise par neuf tours incurvées revêtues de terre cuite s'élevant sur cinq étages. Les visiteurs peuvent y découvrir diverses expositions inspirées par la musique.

Au cours de la visite à pied, vous découvrirez les extérieurs d'autres sites, notamment le Bow Building, un immeuble de 58 étages avec sa façade de verre incurvée et sa structure métallique apparente en treillis diagonal. Sur la place en contrebas se dresse « Wonderland », une sculpture monumentale en forme de tête, ainsi que le Telus Sky et l'hôtel de ville historique.

Byron Robb

Co-responsable

Byron Robb a commencé la photographie en 2007 après un hiver passé au Mexique, où il a découvert que la photographie complétait à merveille ses moments de détente à la plage. Grâce à des cours en ligne, il a perfectionné sa technique et, trois ans plus tard, a rejoint le Foothills Camera Club afin d'approfondir ses connaissances et de se faire des amis dans le milieu de la photographie. Depuis, il est un membre actif du comité directeur du FCC et occupe actuellement le poste de responsable des sorties et de coordinateur de deux groupes d'intérêt : « Shoot Like Film » et « Trebo Tuesdays ».
