Information & Itinerary
The Central Public Library with its stunning architecture and amazing natural light provides an awesome opportunity for amazing environmental portraits.
This will be a guided tour of my favourite locations within the library to showcase a variety of backgrounds and lighting situations. Groups of approximately 5 photographers will rotate every 45 minutes with the provided models.
A 70-200 f2.8 lens is optimal and a nifty 50 works well for the low light and big environmental shots.
No flash or tripods are allowed.

- The library has free admission and lots of architectural photo locations. Feel free to come early or stay later to explore those details.
Travel Mode:
- Easy wander throughout the building.
- Parking is available but not plentiful. LRT stations are very close and provide good access. LRT tickets are the responsibility of the attendee.
Snacks & Water:
- Please bring your own if required. There are water fountains so bringing a water bottle is a good option.

Barrie Hunt
Main Leader
Barrie Hunt has been an active photographer for 26 years. First as a way of documenting family travels then as a method of sharing his world travels with friends and family. He credits the turning point in his photography to a day tour in Rome with a National Geographic Photographer. He is still an extensive traveller and has found that the people in places to be more interesting than just the places themselves.
Alan Medlow
Assistant
Alan Medlow is a photographer based in Calgary, focusing on natural-light portraits, street photography, and wildlife. Inspired by real moments and raw environments, Alan's work blends documentary storytelling with an eye for atmosphere and human connection.
Alan is an active member of several photographic clubs in Calgary and in Arizona where he continues to build a personal portfolio that reflects curiosity, movement, and the beauty of the natural world.
